We source our saffron from Gamila, a family-owned farm located in Beechworth, Victoria. Gamila is not just a saffron producer; it's a story of passion, commitment, and a deep-rooted connection to the land. Founded by Gamila MacRury, the farm captures the beauty of North East Victoria, embracing the traditions of family farming to bring the finest saffron to your kitchen.
Gamila MacRury, an engineer turned farmer, took ownership of 12 acres in Beechworth and decided to focus on niche crops like table olives and saffron. The farm's location, with its altitude and climate, is highly conducive for saffron cultivation, resembling the growing conditions in Kashmir and Iran. Over the years, Gamila has mastered the art and science of saffron growing, making it a family tradition that they hope to carry on for generations.
We chose Gamila for their commitment to quality and sustainability. Their saffron is grown with meticulous care, ensuring that each strand meets the highest standards of quality. This aligns perfectly with our own values at Paddock To Flask, where we strive to create unforgettable drinking experiences that celebrate local farming and sustainable practices.
By incorporating Gamila's saffron into our Honey and Saffron Schnapps, we are not just offering a product; we are sharing a piece of North East Victoria's rich agricultural heritage, seasoned with the flavours of family, tradition, and exceptional craftsmanship.
